Tapology has implemented a new feature displaying opposition level ratings in UFC fighter profiles, scored from 1 to 99 using a proprietary formula. The rating considers only the last six UFC fights, excluding bouts in other organizations. For UFC 328, Sean Strickland leads with a rating of 74, followed by Hamzat Chimaev at 69 and Alexander Volkov at 67. The lowest-rated fighters on the card include Baysangur Susurkaev and Ozzie Diaz, both at 4. This system provides a quantified measure of the quality of opposition each fighter has recently faced.

Tapology has rolled out a new opposition level rating system for UFC fighter profiles, with the feature going live ahead of UFC 328, scheduled for May 9, 2026.

The ratings run on a scale of one to 99, calculated through a proprietary formula that accounts only for a fighter's last six UFC bouts. Fights from other promotions are excluded entirely. The system is designed to give fans and analysts a cleaner, quantified look at the quality of opposition each fighter has recently faced, rather than relying on raw win-loss records alone.

Among the fighters listed on the UFC 328 card, middleweight champion Sean Strickland tops the opposition rating standings with a score of 74. The 35-year-old American, who trains out of Xtreme Couture and carries a 31-7-0 record, has built that mark on a diet of high-volume striking, landing 6.04 significant strikes per minute at 42 percent accuracy across his recent run. His six-foot-one frame and 76-inch reach have been constants through a run that put him at the top of the division.

The Russian carries a 40-11-0 record and stands six-foot-seven with an 80-inch reach, landing 4.78 significant strikes per minute at an accuracy rate of 57 percent. Hamzat Chimaev sits between the two at 69.

Why it matters

  • The system adds a new dimension to UFC fighter evaluation beyond simple win-loss records
  • Rating only the last six UFC bouts rewards recent activity against high-caliber opposition
  • Wide gaps on the UFC 328 card, from 74 down to 4, illustrate how unevenly distributed competition quality can be across a single event
