Quick read

Tapology has implemented a new feature that calculates and displays opponent quality levels for UFC fighters on a scale of 1 to 99. The metric is based on a specific formula considering a fighter's last six UFC bouts, excluding fights in other organizations. For UFC 328, Sean Strickland leads with a rating of 74, followed by Khamzat Chimaev at 69 and Alexander Volkov at 67. The lowest ratings on the card belong to Baysangur Susurkaev and Ozzy Diaz, both at 4. The system provides fans with a quantitative measure of the level of competition each fighter has faced in recent UFC appearances.

Tapology has rolled out a new opponent quality metric for UFC fighters, assigning each competitor a score between 1 and 99 based on the caliber of opposition they have faced inside the Octagon. The feature made its public debut ahead of UFC 328, scheduled for May 9, 2026, and calculates ratings using a fighter's last six UFC bouts exclusively, setting aside any performances logged in other promotions.

Among the fighters featured on the UFC 328 card, middleweight champion Sean Strickland leads all competitors with an opponent quality rating of 74. The 35-year-old American trains out of Xtreme Couture and carries a professional record of 31-7-0. Standing six-foot-one with a 76-inch reach, Strickland is one of the most active strikers in the division, landing 6.04 significant strikes per minute at 42 percent accuracy.

Russian heavyweight Alexander Volkov, known as Drago, ranks second on the card with a score of 69. The 37-year-old sits at number one in the heavyweight divisional rankings and holds a record of 40-11-0. At six-foot-seven with an 80-inch reach, Volkov lands 4.78 significant strikes per minute and connects at an accuracy rate of 57 percent, among the higher marks for a fighter of his size.

Welterweight contender Alexander Volkov is followed on the broader card by UFC 328 participants whose scores span a wide range. Baysangur Susurkaev and Ozzy Diaz hold the lowest ratings on the card, both sitting at 4, reflecting limited UFC opposition in their recent six-fight windows.

Why it matters

  • The metric offers fans a standardized, data-driven way to compare resume strength across weight classes and career stages
  • Strickland's score of 74 reinforces his standing as a champion who has consistently been matched against top-tier opposition
  • The gap between the card's highest and lowest scores illustrates how differently experienced fighters can be featured on the same event
  • Restricting calculations to UFC bouts only means fighters with lengthy records outside the promotion may score lower than their overall résumé suggests
