Tapology has launched a new feature that calculates and displays an "opposition level" rating for UFC fighters in their profiles. The metric uses a proprietary formula to generate scores ranging from 1 to 99, based exclusively on a fighter's last six UFC bouts, with fights in other organizations excluded from the calculation. For the UFC 328 card, Sean Strickland leads with a rating of 74, followed by Khamzat Chimaev at 69 and Alexander Volkov at 67. At the bottom of the card ratings are Baysangur Susurkaev and Ozzie Diaz, both with scores of 4. The system provides fans with a quantified measure of the quality of opposition each fighter has faced in their recent UFC competition.
Tapology has introduced an opposition level rating system for UFC fighters, rolling out the new metric ahead of UFC 328 on May 9, 2026. The feature assigns each fighter a score between 1 and 99, calculated through a proprietary formula that draws exclusively from a fighter's last six UFC bouts, with appearances in other promotions left out of the equation entirely.

For the UFC 328 card, middleweight champion Sean Strickland tops the ratings with a score of 74. The 35-year-old American, who trains out of Xtreme Couture, carries a 31-7-0 record and is one of the most active strikers in the division, landing 6.04 significant strikes per minute at 42 percent accuracy. He stands six-foot-one with a 76-inch reach.

Russia's Alexander Volkov, ranked first in the heavyweight division, checks in third on the card with a score of 67. The 37-year-old, known as Drago, holds a 40-11-0 record and stands six-foot-seven with an 80-inch reach, connecting on 57 percent of his significant strikes — a notably high accuracy mark for a heavyweight.

At the lower end of the card's ratings, Baysangur Susurkaev and Ozzie Diaz both register scores of 4, reflecting limited UFC competition from which the system can draw its calculations.

Why it matters
- The metric gives fans a standardized way to compare the quality of opposition fighters have recently faced inside the UFC.
- Scores are recency-weighted, covering only the last six UFC bouts, meaning rising contenders with short Octagon résumés will naturally score lower regardless of overall record.
- Strickland's chart-topping 74 underscores his sustained run against high-level middleweight competition as reigning champion.
- The system highlights the gap between established UFC veterans and fighters still building their promotional résumés.
