He emphasized teaching his children a pacifist approach with the phrase 'as long as there's no war,' reflecting Soviet-era values about peace. Regarding Moscow, Volkov dramatically changed his assessment from five years ago when he described the city as 'dirt, traffic jams, construction.' After visiting last summer, he now calls Moscow 'the best city in the world' and praised its cleanliness and overall quality. He told teammates in New Jersey that he considers Moscow the best city for living, beauty, and everything else.
