Vadim Tikhomirov conducted an important interview with Khamzat Chimaev's older brother, Sayed, who explained why Khamzat performed poorly against Strickland due to a brutal weight cut. When the fight was announced in March, Chimaev weighed 105 kg as he expected to fight Prochazka at light heavyweight. Two weeks before UFC 328, he was still at 97 kg. When 1.2 kg remained to lose, his body shut down and required an hour break before completing the cut. After weigh-ins and before the fight, Chimaev only regained 5-6 kg. Chimaev's team has requested a rematch with Strickland at middleweight in October in Abu Dhabi.
