Chimaev's brother details severe weight cut, UFC 328 circumstances

Arthur Chimaev provided detailed information about his brother Khamzat's UFC 328 weight cut and fight circumstances. When 1.2 kg remained, Khamzat's body shut down and the process was paused for an hour due to health concerns. Khamzat nearly lost consciousness from oxygen deprivation during the cut. He only regained 5-6 kg before the fight instead of the typical recovery weight. Two weeks before the fight Khamzat weighed 97 kg, but was 105 kg by March 13. The UFC had originally contracted him for a light heavyweight bout with Jiri Prochazka at 93 kg, but then requested he fight Strickland at middleweight instead, requiring him to cut from 105 kg to 84 kg.
