Quick read
Carlos Prates' nickname "The Nightmare" has origins unrelated to his fighting style. In the 2000s, a popular Brazilian children's show called 'Sítio do Picapau Amarelo' (Yellow Woodpecker's Farm) featured a character named Pesadelo, which translates to "Nightmare." Prates' friends believed he resembled this character and nicknamed him accordingly. The moniker from his personal life eventually carried over perfectly into his fighting career. Despite the origin story, the author of the post notes they personally see no resemblance between Prates and the TV character.
