Carlos Prates reveals origin of his 'Nightmare' nickname from Brazilian TV show

Carlos Prates' nickname 'The Nightmare' did not originate from his fighting style as many believe. In the 2000s, a popular Brazilian children's show called 'Sitio do Picapau Amarelo' (Yellow Woodpecker Farm) featured a character named Pesadelo, which translates to 'Nightmare.' Prates' friends thought he resembled this character and nicknamed him accordingly. The moniker later transferred perfectly from his personal life to his fighting career, though the author of the post notes seeing no actual resemblance between Prates and the character.
