Magomed Ankalaev and Khalil Roundtree will meet in the main event of UFC Abu Dhabi on July 25, with Umar Nurmagomedov facing unbeaten David Martinez in the co-main event.

Ankalaev enters as the number-one ranked light heavyweight in the world and sits fifth on the pound-for-pound list. The 34-year-old Russian carries a record of 21-2-1 and trains out of Gorets Fight Club. Standing six-foot-three with a 75-inch reach, he lands 3.65 significant strikes per minute at 52 percent accuracy and adds nearly one takedown per 15 minutes to keep opponents guessing.

Nurmagomedov brings one of the most complete games in the bantamweight division into his co-main event assignment. The 30-year-old Russian, ranked second at 135 pounds, holds a record of 20-1-0 under the Eagles MMA banner. He lands 3.86 significant strikes per minute at a sharp 56 percent accuracy rate and averages over four takedowns per 15 minutes, making him a serious threat in every phase.

Standing across from Nurmagomedov will be David Martinez, known as Black Spartan. The 27-year-old Mexican prospect out of Bonebreakers MMA carries a 14-1-0 record overall and has gone a perfect 3-0 inside the UFC. At five-foot-five with a 67-inch reach, Martinez is the smaller man but makes up for it with volume, averaging 4.82 significant strikes per minute, though his 46 percent accuracy trails Nurmagomedov's considerably.

Why it matters

  • Ankalaev at number one in the light heavyweight rankings makes this a title-eliminator-level main event with significant divisional stakes.
  • A loss for Nurmagomedov would shake up the bantamweight top five; a win over an unbeaten UFC fighter would strengthen his case for a title shot.
  • Martinez's striking volume against Nurmagomedov's elite accuracy and grappling rate creates a compelling stylistic contrast in the co-main.
