Brazilian UFC featherweight Melquizael Costa has announced he is moving up to lightweight, citing an inability to sustain the 22-kilogram cuts required at featherweight. Costa had previously competed at 70 kg before his UFC career and actually debuted in the promotion at lightweight against Thiago Moises before dropping to featherweight, where he went on a six-fight winning streak. He was one step outside the featherweight top 10 before making the switch.
