Brazilian UFC fighter Melquizael Costa has announced he is moving up to lightweight, citing the unsustainable physical toll of cutting 22 kilograms for each fight. Costa had previously competed at 155 pounds before the UFC, including his promotional debut against Thiago Moises, before dropping to featherweight and reeling off six consecutive victories. He stopped one step short of the top ten in the featherweight rankings.
