Sergei Pavlovich delivered one of the night's most dramatic moments, finishing veteran Glover Teixeira in just 39 seconds. Teixeira, 46, carries a professional record of 33-9 and has long been one of the most decorated fighters in the light heavyweight division. The Brazilian holds a 76-inch reach and connects at a 49 percent striking accuracy rate, among the better marks in his weight class. The finish underscored how quickly fortunes can turn for even experienced fighters at the highest level.

In the co-main event, Khalil Rountree Jr. knocked out Minyiang to earn a performance bonus. Rountree, ranked seventh at light heavyweight at 36 years old, stands six-foot-one with a 76-inch reach and lands 3.88 significant strikes per minute. Minyiang also received a performance bonus despite the defeat.

Elsewhere on the card, Asakura returned to bantamweight and stopped Smotherman by knockout, earning another performance bonus. The fight between Su Mudaerji and flyweight contender Alex Perez ended in controversy when a low blow from Su caused the bout to be ruled a no-contest. Perez, ranked seventh at flyweight and carrying a 26-10 record, was taken to hospital following the incident. The 34-year-old from the United States lands 4.41 significant strikes per minute and is a capable grappler, averaging 2.21 takedowns per 15 minutes.

Why it matters

  • Song Yadong's finish of Garbrandt keeps him in bantamweight title contention and was the card's marquee Chinese victory
  • Pavlovich's 39-second demolition of Teixeira reinforces his standing as one of the most dangerous strikers in the heavyweight division
  • The Perez no-contest leaves the flyweight rankings unsettled and raises questions about Su Mudaerji's path forward in the division
