Quick read

TUF 32 veteran Nathan Fletcher has been cut from the UFC roster after a 1-2 record in the promotion. Fletcher, a former Cage Warriors standout with an 8-1 pre-UFC run mostly via stoppages, debuted with a submission win but lost decisions to Caolan Loughran and a quick TKO to Rinya Nakamura. The release comes amid recent roster cleanups, including Gianni Vazquez. This impacts the bantamweight division by thinning depth for prospects. Fletcher, 28, may return to Cage Warriors or other promotions. Fans await UFC's next moves in talent evaluation.

Nathan Fletcher, the English bantamweight who competed on The Ultimate Fighter 32, has been released by the UFC following a 1-2 run inside the promotion, the organization confirmed as part of a recent wave of roster cuts.

Fletcher, 28, arrived in the UFC with considerable momentum. The Next Generation MMA Liverpool product had gone 8-1 before signing with the promotion, building that record largely through stoppages on the regional circuit, most notably with Cage Warriors. Standing five-foot-seven with a 70-inch reach, Fletcher showed real promise in his octagon debut, picking up a submission win to announce himself at bantamweight. His striking accuracy of 60 percent and a takedown rate of 3.53 per 15 minutes painted the picture of a well-rounded competitor, but he was unable to sustain that early form.

His two losses came against fighters who presented different and difficult challenges. Caolan Loughran, the 30-year-old Irish standout out of Team Kaobon, holds a 10-2 record and operates with a pace of 4.73 significant strikes per minute, earning a decision over Fletcher. A subsequent TKO defeat to Rinya Nakamura, the 31-year-old Japanese southpaw from American Top Team who carries a 10-1 record, proved to be Fletcher's final appearance on the UFC roster.

Fletcher's release is part of a broader cleanup of the UFC's bantamweight roster that has also seen Gianni Vazquez shown the door.

Why it matters

  • Fletcher's departure removes a prospect-level fighter from an already competitive 135-pound division
  • His losses came to fighters with credible records, suggesting the step up in competition proved decisive
  • With a 9-3 overall record and proven regional pedigree, Fletcher figures to draw interest from promotions such as Cage Warriors, where he previously established his name
