Among the notable guests was undisputed world heavyweight boxing champion Oleksandr Usyk, the unbeaten Ukrainian southpaw who carries a 24-0-0 record and stands six-foot-three with a 78-inch reach. The appearance of "The Cat" added considerable star power to the occasion.

Topuria, known as "El Matador," is currently ranked second in the lightweight division and sits at number one in the pound-for-pound rankings at just 29 years of age. The Spain-based Georgian carries a 17-1-0 record and is one of the sport's most prolific volume strikers, landing 4.81 significant strikes per minute with 48 percent accuracy. Fighting out of Climent Club, he has shown well-rounded skills with 1.96 takedowns per 15 minutes as well.

The pre-fight dinner mirrors what Topuria did exactly one year ago, on the eve of his bout with Charles Oliveira. Oliveira, nicknamed "Do Bronx," is a 36-year-old Brazilian ranked third at lightweight with a 37-11-0 record. He remains one of the division's most dangerous finishers, averaging 2.6 submission attempts per 15 minutes alongside 2.22 takedowns per 15 minutes, all while landing 3.35 significant strikes per minute.

Why it matters

  • Topuria's deliberate repetition of the pre-fight dinner ritual signals a structured mental approach heading into a high-stakes lightweight appearance.
  • The presence of a world boxing champion in Usyk underlines Topuria's growing profile beyond MMA.
  • With Topuria ranked number one pound-for-pound and Oliveira sitting third in the lightweight division, the lightweight landscape remains closely tied to both fighters.
