Quick read
The UFC has introduced a new algorithmic ranking system that replaces the previous media-voting model. Under the new system, wins and the quality of opposition account for 95 percent of a fighter's ranking, early finishes provide a small bonus, and inactivity penalties begin after 18 months without a fight. There will be no pound-for-pound ranking under the new system, and no human adjustments can be made manually. Notable early changes include Pat Sabatini and Nathaniel Wood entering the featherweight top ten, while Jan Blachovic nearly fell out of the light heavyweight top 15 and Dricus Du Plessis dropped from eighth to fifteenth in his division.
