Araujo, nicknamed "Vivi," entered the bout ranked eighth in the women's flyweight division. The 39-year-old Brazilian out of Cerrado MMA holds the same 13-7-0 record as her opponent and had been an active striker, averaging 3.84 significant strikes per minute. The submission loss marks a difficult setback for a fighter still positioning herself in a competitive division.

Elsewhere on the card, Hasan Magomedsharpov tapped out Joshua Weems with an arm-triangle choke in round one. Weems, a 32-year-old American with an 11-3-0 record, had entered the fight as a notable offensive threat, connecting at 64 percent striking accuracy and averaging an impressive 5.25 significant strikes per minute. Despite that output, he was unable to survive on the ground.
