Cortez, 32, carries a 12-3 record in the women's flyweight division and currently sits at number ten in the rankings. The Fight Ready product is a well-rounded competitor who gets after opponents on the mat, averaging 2.19 takedowns per 15 minutes, and lands significant strikes at a 49 percent accuracy rate — among the more efficient figures in the division.

Blanchfield, ranked third at flyweight, is 14-2 and has established herself as one of the most dangerous fighters in the weight class. The 27-year-old out of Renzo Gracie Jiu-Jitsu is relentless on the feet, landing 5.24 significant strikes per minute, while also threatening with nearly two takedowns per 15 minutes. Her combination of striking volume and ground work makes her a nightmare matchup for almost anyone at 125 pounds.

Why it matters

  • A trilogy would carry real divisional weight, with Blanchfield sitting just outside title contention at number three
  • The rankings gap between the two — third versus tenth — means a third meeting would likely hinge on how each fighter performs in intervening bouts
  • Their contrasting styles, Blanchfield's high-output striking against Cortez's takedown-heavy approach, have already produced two compelling fights and promise a third would be equally contested
