Dominick Reyes has turned his attention from the cage to a war of words with Daniel Cormier, firing off a series of online jabs at the former two-division champion days after his UFC 333 knockout win.

Reyes reportedly called Cormier "low IQ" and a "hater" in the posts, responding after Cormier referred to him as a "kid." He also took aim at Cormier's own history against Jon Jones, pointing out that Cormier lost to Jones twice, including by head kick in the second meeting. Reyes went on to suggest that many fans felt he should have had his hand raised when he fought Jones in 2020.

The outburst comes on the back of a statement performance. Reyes stopped Azamat Murzakanov in the first round at UFC 333 on October 24, a result that has fans debating where the light heavyweight goes next.

Cormier: the target of the barbs

Cormier, 47, finished his career at 22-3-0 and is a former champion who competed at heavyweight and light heavyweight. His most recent recorded fights were the two losses to Stipe Miocic, a fourth-round knockout at UFC 241 and a unanimous decision at UFC 252 in August 2020. He now works as a commentator and analyst, which puts his opinions in front of fans every fight week. Cormier is five-foot-eleven with a 72-inch reach and averaged 4.25 significant strikes per minute at 52 percent accuracy, with a takedown rate of 1.83 per 15 minutes.

Why it matters

  • The feud has the potential to keep Reyes in the spotlight as his post-win momentum builds in the light heavyweight top 10.
  • The physical gap is notable: Reyes carries a five-inch reach advantage and a five-inch height edge over Cormier's listed measurements.
  • Reyes has now won two in a row after the Ulberg loss, the sort of run that tends to shape a divisional matchup conversation.
