Sean Brady has pulled out of next week's UFC Vegas 124 main event against Gabriel Bonfim, MMA Junkie reported, leaving the card without its planned headliner. The withdrawal is a significant blow to the event, which now has no main event matchup in place.

Brady, a 33-year-old welterweight from the United States, enters the sidelines with a 19-2-0 record and a No. 6 ranking in the division. He trains out of Renzo Gracie Philly and has built his career on grappling, averaging 3.53 takedowns per 15 minutes alongside 55 percent striking accuracy. His most recent recorded fight was a unanimous decision win over Joaquin Buckley at UFC 328 on May 9, 2026. Before that, he lost by first-round KO/TKO to Michael Morales in November 2025, and earlier that year he submitted Leon Edwards in the fourth round in March 2025.

Gabriel Bonfim

Bonfim, a 29-year-old Brazilian known as "Marretinha," is 19-1-0 and ranked fifth at welterweight. He fights out of the Bonfim Brothers team and lands 4.61 significant strikes per minute at 46 percent accuracy, while also averaging 3.6 takedown attempts per 15 minutes. His most recent recorded fight was a five-round unanimous decision win over Belal Muhammad on June 6, 2026, a result that followed a second-round KO/TKO of Randy Brown in November 2025 and a split decision over Stephen Thompson in July 2025.

Why it matters

  • Bonfim, fifth in the rankings, loses a bout against the sixth-ranked Brady, a matchup of adjacent contenders that would have carried clear divisional weight.
  • The pairing was a clash of grappling-heavy styles. Brady's 3.53 takedowns per 15 minutes sits just under Bonfim's 3.6, and the two share an identical 72-inch reach.
  • Brady's 55 percent striking accuracy beats Bonfim's 46 percent, though Bonfim out-lands him on volume, 4.61 strikes per minute to 3.96.
  • The pair are separated by four years in age, with Brady the older man at 33.

No replacement opponent or revised main event had been reported at the time of writing.
