The order comes from each fighter's first title-fight win, not each reign, and the record covers this division only. A loss in another UFC bout or another promotion doesn't affect it.

That distinction matters. This is a list of title-fight winners, including an interim winner, rather than a count of reigns announced outside the cage.

The recent run shows how quickly this title has moved: five different fighters won across these 10 bouts. UFC 282 produced a draw, so neither fighter added a title-fight win there.

Seven of these 10 fights ended before the final horn. The sequence also captures Pereira losing the belt to Ankalaev, then taking it straight back at UFC 320.

How this list is counted

AgentMMA starts with every UFC bout marked as a Light Heavyweight championship fight. Undisputed and interim titles both qualify. A fighter enters the first table only after winning one of those fights, so there is no five-fight minimum or career threshold. That rule keeps every era on the same basis.

Each row then counts that fighter's wins, losses, draws and no-contests in qualifying title fights. The figures don't include ordinary UFC fights. They also exclude every bout from PRIDE, Strikeforce, Bellator and other promotions, even when it appears on a fighter's professional record.

Vacancies, stripping decisions and promotions from interim to undisputed champion don't happen in a bout result. AgentMMA doesn't turn those decisions into fictional wins. The UFC's title-lineage material supplies that context, while the tables remain bout-based.

Another site's list may count reigns, omit interim belts or list only undisputed champions. It may also treat an overturned result differently or include a newer event. Those choices can produce a different total without either table containing a calculation error.

The UFC record book shows two counting gaps. Its Light Heavyweight filter gives Jones 14, matching this table, but lists Ortiz at 3 and omits Shamrock. The page says its records start at UFC 28, while AgentMMA scans its bout table from 1994, so early-era totals can differ. The UFC career page gives Jones 16 across weight classes; AgentMMA's 14 is division-only.

What these records measure

A title-fight win isn't the same as a successful defense. A fighter earns one win when he first captures a belt. A defense, unification or later recapture also adds one when it happens in a qualifying bout. An administrative promotion adds nothing because no fight took place.

Draws and no-contests remain in the record but add no victory. UFC 282 is the clearest recent example: Blachowicz and Ankalaev each received a draw. Jones's overturned bout appears as the one NC beside his 14-0-0 line.

The table is chronological, not a ranking by total wins. That is why Jones appears in the middle rather than at the top. For a cross-division leaderboard, use Most UFC title-fight wins.

How the UFC light heavyweight title changed hands

Frank Shamrock opens the winner list in 1997, and Tito Ortiz follows in 2000. Their rows show the early stable years: five title wins for Shamrock and six for Ortiz. Randy Couture's 2003 interim win is included because the belt was on the line.

The belt then moved through Belfort, Liddell, Jackson, Griffin, Evans, Machida and Rua. Jones stopped that rapid turnover in 2011. UFC lineage records also include administrative breaks, including strips and vacancies, which no fight-results table can show by itself.

Jones vacated the light heavyweight title in 2020 before moving to heavyweight. From Blachowicz onward, the table shows frequent changes again. Pereira later relinquished the belt to pursue heavyweight gold, and UFC 327 crowned Ulberg from a vacant-title fight.

This explains why a bout list and a reign timeline answer slightly different questions. The table tells you who won inside the Octagon. The lineage explains why the next title fight happened.

Notable names on the list

Jon Jones: the division record

Jones owns 14 wins in Light Heavyweight title fights and no recorded loss in them. His 14-0-0 line also carries one no-contest. The next-best totals in AgentMMA's table are six for Ortiz and five each for Shamrock, Liddell and Pereira.

Jones left the division in 2020 and later won the UFC Heavyweight title. UFC announced his retirement in June 2025, so his 14-win divisional mark isn't an active run.

Alex Pereira: five wins in a short span

Pereira reached five Light Heavyweight title-fight wins between November 2023 and October 2025. That tied Shamrock and Liddell despite a much shorter window. He lost the belt to Ankalaev at UFC 313, then stopped him in round one of the rematch at UFC 320.

UFC reported that Pereira relinquished the belt in 2026 to chase an interim Heavyweight title. That decision led to the vacant championship at UFC 327.

Carlos Ulberg: the current champion

Ulberg joined the list by knocking out Jiri Prochazka in round one at UFC 327. That remains his only title fight in this dataset, giving him a 1-0-0 record.

AgentMMA's rankings data and the UFC rankings both list Ulberg as champion on October 22, 2026. For the live answer after that date, use the UFC Light Heavyweight rankings.

Frank Shamrock and Tito Ortiz: the first long runs

Shamrock went 5-0-0 in the title fights stored here. Ortiz followed with six wins across a 6-3-0 title-fight record. Together, their rows cover the division's first sustained championship period before the belt changed hands more often.

Daniel Cormier: four wins in the Jones era

Cormier's row is 4-1-0 with one no-contest. He first won the undisputed title against Anthony Johnson in 2015. Cormier retired in 2020 and entered the UFC Hall of Fame in 2022, so this record is closed.

How solid is this data?

The study covers 59 UFC Light Heavyweight title fights from March 11, 1994, through October 17, 2026. It finds 19 different title-fight winners. AgentMMA computed the list from UFC Stats-derived results stored in its own bout database.

Only UFC bouts count. A fighter's professional record may include results from other promotions, but those fights never enter a UFC figure here. Results follow UFC Stats as stored by AgentMMA, and an overturned result counts as a no-contest.

The bout labels decide inclusion. Administrative events need separate lineage context because no contest took place. The current champion can change at the next event, so the UFC Light Heavyweight rankings hold the live answer.

AgentMMA refreshes this maintained page when a new result changes the list, a record or the recent-fights table.
