Read “title-fight wins” as belt wins plus successful defenses. “Title fights” also includes losses, draws and no-contests. The division column covers only the weight classes where each fighter contested a UFC championship.
That is why the first number is often larger than a fighter's defense total. A new champion has one title-fight win and zero defenses at the moment the belt changes hands.
How this list is counted
AgentMMA starts with UFC championship bouts in its UFC Stats-derived database. The sample contains 396 fights between March 11, 1994 and October 17, 2026. Undisputed and interim championships both count.
Each won championship bout adds one title-fight win. That includes the fight where a challenger captures a vacant or held belt. It also includes later wins by the reigning champion.
A title defense is narrower. The fighter must already hold that title when the bout starts and retain it by winning. The first win of any reign is not a defense. Vacancies, stripped belts and interim promotions require title-history data, so AgentMMA uses UFC's published record for defense totals.
Tournament finals and the UFC's early “superfight” bouts are excluded. Fights outside the UFC never enter these totals, even when they appear on a fighter's professional record. An overturned result is stored as a no-contest and does not become a win.
The table shows the leading 20 fighters. Across the full study, 55 fighters have at least three UFC title-fight wins.
The UFC's live title-fight-wins record book agrees on the top three. It currently lists Randy Couture at 8 and Tito Ortiz at 5, while AgentMMA has 9 and 6. AgentMMA applies its stated bout-level scope to historical championship fights; the UFC uses its own record-book classification.
Notable names on the list
Jon Jones: the title-fight wins leader
Jones won 16 of 17 UFC title bouts, with one no-contest and no recorded title-fight loss. Those wins span light heavyweight and heavyweight. Current records credit him with 12 successful defenses, but his 16 here also includes championship wins that began new reigns.
His competitive status is less clean than the record. Jones said in October 2026 that he probably would not fight again, yet he remained in the UFC testing pool. Until he books another bout, 16 is the useful fixed mark.
Georges St-Pierre: 13 wins across two divisions
St-Pierre finished 13-2 in UFC title fights. Most came at welterweight, followed by his 2017 middleweight title win. That final win raised his title-fight total, but it was a belt capture rather than a defense.
He formally retired in 2019. His place here is closed unless that retirement changes.
Demetrious Johnson: 11 defenses in one reign
Johnson's 12 title-fight wins include the bout that made him the inaugural UFC flyweight champion. The next 11 were consecutive defenses, which remains the single-reign standard cited by UFC. He retired from MMA in September 2024, so that run is complete.
This is the cleanest example of the difference between the two stats. Twelve title-fight wins produced 11 defenses.
Valentina Shevchenko and Amanda Nunes lead the women
Shevchenko and Nunes each have 11 UFC title-fight wins. Shevchenko needed 14 title bouts and recorded a draw. Nunes reached 11 in 12, giving her the stronger win rate within this table.
Shevchenko vacated the flyweight belt after an injury in 2026. Her total therefore stayed at 11 through the study cutoff.
Islam Makhachev and Alexander Volkanovski remain within range
Makhachev is 7-0 in title fights across lightweight and welterweight. He was the UFC welterweight champion at the cutoff. Every future championship win would add to this list, whether it starts a reign or extends one.
Volkanovski stands at 8-3 across featherweight and lightweight title bouts. His 2026 entry shows why a maintained page matters: active champions can move the order with one result.

How solid is this data?
The sample covers 396 undisputed and interim UFC title fights from 1994-03-11 through 2026-10-17. AgentMMA computed it on October 21, 2026 from bout results and round data derived from UFC Stats.
The main limit is classification. A bout table shows who fought, who won and the result. It cannot always show whether a belt had been vacated, stripped or promoted between fights. That is why defense counts come from the UFC's title history, while this ranking comes from AgentMMA's bout table.
Only UFC bouts count. A win in PRIDE, Strikeforce, WEC, ONE or another promotion can affect a professional record, but never this list. Overturned wins become no-contests in the stored results.
The page changes after a new UFC championship result alters the order or total. AgentMMA then reruns the same rules across the full sample instead of patching a fighter's number by hand.
