Carlos Ulberg has revealed he misplaced his newly won light heavyweight championship belt after the post-fight celebrations got underway — and he is not entirely sure where it ended up.

The New Zealand fighter, who competes out of City Kickboxing, admitted he had not wanted to lug the title around with him during the festivities and left it behind at the apartment where the party was held. Ulberg suspects the belt is still there and joked that one of his friends is probably sleeping with it.

Ulberg, known as "Black Jag," claimed the light heavyweight title to improve his professional record to 15 wins and one loss. The 35-year-old stands six-foot-four with a 77-inch reach and has developed a reputation as one of the division's most dangerous strikers, landing 6.54 significant strikes per minute at a 55 percent accuracy rate. He entered the championship fight ranked third in the light heavyweight division and now sits at the top of it.

Why it matters

  • Ulberg's win marks a significant milestone for City Kickboxing, which has produced multiple UFC champions
  • At 35, the New Zealander arrives at the peak of the division after a rapid rise through the rankings
  • His elite striking output will set a high bar for any future challengers in the 205-pound weight class

The lighthearted story offers a glimpse into the relaxed, grounded culture surrounding Ulberg and his team in the immediate aftermath of what is the biggest win of his career. The belt, presumably, will find its way home eventually.
