Sports journalist and current fighter manager Azamat Bostanov shared memories from eight years ago when Khabib Nurmagomedov won the UFC lightweight championship at UFC 223 in Brooklyn. Bostanov recalled how manager Ali Abdelaziz initially told him to stay away from their team after he interviewed Artem Lobov following the infamous confrontation with Khabib, but Khabib himself intervened, saying "This is our guy, he's just doing his job." After the event, despite being exhausted, Khabib took time to meet with numerous fans at his hotel, took photos, and spoke with everyone who wanted to congratulate him. Bostanov also revealed that Zabit Magomedsharipov broke two fingers during his warm-up at the same event but chose not to report it to the athletic commission so he could compete. Years later, Khabib continued to show the same friendly demeanor, once stopping his car to offer Bostanov a ride when he spotted him on the street.
