Azamat Bostanov, now an MMA manager, shared memories from eight years ago when Khabib Nurmagomedov won the UFC lightweight title at UFC 223 in Brooklyn. Bostanov recalled interviewing Artem Lobov after the famous pre-fight confrontation between Lobov and Khabib. Manager Ali Abdelaziz initially told Bostanov not to approach their team, but Khabib intervened, putting his arm around Bostanov and saying he was their guy just doing his job. Bostanov remembered 20-30 Dagestanis gathering at the hotel prepared to defend Khabib from potential provocations by Conor McGregor's team. After the event, Khabib's hotel floor was packed with people, many of whom he didn't know, but he took time to greet everyone and let Bostanov wear his championship belt for a photo. Bostanov also noted that Zabit Magomedsharipov broke two fingers during his warm-up but kept it secret to avoid being pulled from the card. Despite later becoming a bigger star, Khabib remained approachable and even offered Bostanov a ride home a year later when he spotted him on the street.
