Vadim Nemkov has disclosed that kidney problems significantly impacted his performance in his first fight with Corey Anderson in spring 2022. The former Bellator champion experienced severe fatigue, running out of energy after just one round in both sparring sessions and the actual fight. Despite winning the first round against Anderson, Nemkov said he felt like someone "turned off the gas" in the second round and couldn't execute techniques he knew he should be able to perform. After extensive medical consultation and testing in Thailand before their rematch, doctors identified the cause and prescribed a standard pharmaceutical medication that resolved his issues. Nemkov has since completely eliminated all sports supplements from his regimen, including creatine, protein, and BCAAs, due to the strain they place on his kidneys. He now only takes vitamins including omega-3, fish oil, magnesium, and vitamin B, and reports feeling no worse without the supplements.
