Tapology has implemented a new feature that calculates and displays an opposition level rating for UFC fighters in their profiles. The metric uses a special formula ranging from 1 to 99, considering only the last six UFC fights while excluding bouts in other organizations. For UFC 328, Sean Strickland leads with a rating of 74, followed by Khamzat Chimaev at 69 and Alexander Volkov at 67, while Baisangur Susurkaev and Ozzie Diaz share the lowest rating of 4. The system provides fans with a quantitative assessment of the caliber of competition each fighter has faced recently. This data-driven approach offers a new perspective on fighter resumes and strength of schedule.

Tapology has rolled out a new opposition quality metric for UFC fighters, assigning each competitor a numerical rating based on the caliber of opponents they have recently faced, just ahead of UFC 328 on May 9, 2026.

The feature generates a score on a scale of one to 99, calculated using a proprietary formula that draws exclusively from a fighter's last six UFC bouts. Fights competed outside the UFC are excluded from the calculation entirely. For the UFC 328 card, middleweight champion Sean Strickland leads all fighters with a rating of 74, reflecting a recent run against high-profile opposition. Alexander Volkov follows at 67, with Baisangur Susurkaev and Ozzie Diaz sitting at the bottom of the current card with a shared score of 4.

Strickland, 35, carries a 31-7-0 record and holds the middleweight title fighting out of Xtreme Couture. The American stands six-foot-one with a 76-inch reach and posts an aggressive output of 6.04 significant strikes landed per minute.

Volkov, nicknamed Drago, is the top-ranked heavyweight contender at 37 years old, representing Russia with a substantial 40-11-0 professional record. The six-foot-seven Orthodox fighter lands significant strikes at 57 percent accuracy, among the higher rates in his division.

Why it matters

  • The metric gives fans a quick, data-driven snapshot of strength of schedule rather than relying on raw win-loss records alone
  • Excluding non-UFC bouts focuses the rating on competition at the sport's highest level
  • A wide spread between top and bottom scores on UFC 328, from 74 down to 4, highlights how unevenly distributed elite opposition can be across a single card
  • The tool adds a new layer to fighter profile analysis on Tapology and could influence how matchmaking decisions are publicly evaluated
