Arman Tsarukyan has moved to cool speculation about a September bout with Charles Oliveira, stating that he only mentioned it as a possibility on his YouTube channel and that nothing has been made official. Tsarukyan noted his next fight could come in September, October, December, or even the following year, and that the UFC's plans remain unknown to him.

Reports linking Arman Tsarukyan to a September showdown with Charles Oliveira should be treated with caution, as the lightweight contender has stepped back from the speculation and stressed that no fight has been formally agreed upon.

Tsarukyan, 29, explained that he floated the idea on his YouTube channel simply as a possibility, not as confirmation of a signed or even verbally agreed bout. The Russian fighter, representing American Top Team, acknowledged that his next appearance could come in September, October, December, or potentially not until the following year, and that the UFC has not communicated any firm plans to him. Ranked first in the lightweight division at 23-3-0, Tsarukyan lands 3.85 significant strikes per minute and averages 3.26 takedowns per 15 minutes, making him one of the more complete threats in the 155-pound bracket.

Oliveira, meanwhile, holds a 37-11-0 record and sits third in the lightweight rankings at age 36. The Brazilian veteran, who trains out of Chute Boxe Diego Lima and carries an 11-inch reach advantage at 74 inches, is statistically one of the most dangerous finishers in UFC history, averaging 2.6 submission attempts per 15 minutes alongside a striking accuracy rate of 54 percent.

Why it matters

  • Tsarukyan is the division's top-ranked contender, so any fight he takes carries title-picture consequences
  • Oliveira at number three represents a high-stakes gatekeeper matchup that could reset the lightweight hierarchy
  • Both fighters are orthodox strikers with contrasting physical profiles, setting up a compelling style clash if the bout eventually materializes
  • As of now the pairing remains unconfirmed, and Tsarukyan himself says the UFC's scheduling intentions are unknown to him
