The UFC has launched a new AI-powered rankings system running alongside the traditional media rankings, with notable discrepancies drawing scrutiny. Jan Blachowicz appears 15th in the new light heavyweight list despite holding the 4th spot in the journalists' version, while fighters such as Kevin Borjas appear in the flyweight top ten despite a losing UFC record and no finishes. Veterans including Frankie Edgar, Brian Ortega, Josh Emmett, and Derrick Lewis have dropped out of their respective top-15s entirely, and there will be no pound-for-pound list in the AI system, which UFC president Dana White justified by calling the category too subjective. The AI rankings are not currently being used for matchmaking, with the traditional version remaining the operative tool.
