Gasanov Pulled from UFC Bout Over Substance That Displeased the Organization

Magomedrasul Gasanov was removed from his scheduled fight against Abubakar Vagaev after UFC flagged a substance in his medical documentation. According to his sparring partner Ikram Aliskerov, Gasanov's recent drug tests came back clean, but a previously used substance with a long detection window — compared to meldonium — prompted UFC to pull the fight. Aliskerov suggested the situation may be similar to cases where Soviet-era sports supplements linger in an athlete's system long after use.
