Volkanovski vs Evloev headlines UFC 333 on October 24

Alexander Volkanovski will defend the UFC featherweight title against undefeated contender Movsar Evloev in the main event of UFC 333, scheduled for October 24 in Abu Dhabi.

Volkanovski, known as "The Great," enters the bout at 28 wins and four losses, having cemented himself as one of the sport's elite with a current pound-for-pound ranking of third in the world. The 37-year-old Australian out of Freestyle Fighting Gym is a featherweight champion whose output and precision set him apart — he lands nearly six significant strikes per minute at a striking accuracy of 57 percent, numbers that rank among the best in the division.

Standing across from him will be Evloev, a 32-year-old Russian representing American Top Team who carries a perfect 20-0-0 professional record into the fight. Ranked first in the featherweight division, Evloev has earned his title shot through relentless pressure and an elite grappling game. He averages nearly five takedowns per 15 minutes and lands 3.91 significant strikes per minute at 47 percent accuracy. At five-foot-seven with a 72-inch reach, he holds a physical size advantage over the champion.

Why it matters

• Evloev is the last unbeaten fighter in the featherweight top five, making this a generational title clash at 145 pounds
• A Volkanovski victory would further solidify his legacy as one of the greatest featherweights in UFC history
• Evloev's takedown-heavy style poses a distinct stylistic challenge to a champion who excels in the striking game
• Abu Dhabi continues to host marquee UFC events, and a featherweight title fight gives the card immediate global appeal
