UFC welterweight Uros Medic has shared a story of playing bodyguard for tennis great Novak Djokovic during a night out in Los Angeles.

Medic said he was spending time with Djokovic and NBA player Bogdan Bogdanovic when the group left a restaurant after dinner. Outside, more than 100 fans were waiting with cameras, markers and memorabilia. With no security team present, the crowd grew pushy and began closing in on Djokovic.

Seeing the tennis star getting boxed in, Medic stepped forward and offered his services, telling Djokovic, "Nole, just say the word." Djokovic nodded, and Medic cleared a path through the crowd and walked him safely to his car.

The fighter

Medic, 33, is a ranked welterweight, sitting at number 12 in the division with a record of 14-3. Nicknamed "The Doctor," the southpaw trains at Kings MMA and stands six-foot-one with a 71-inch reach. He represents the United States.

His numbers back up a reputation as an accurate, high-output striker. Medic lands 5.59 significant strikes per minute and connects on 60 percent of his attempts. He rarely looks for takedowns, averaging 0.34 per 15 minutes, and has not attempted a submission in his UFC career.

Why it matters

  • The story shows the crossover appeal of UFC fighters, who now move in the same circles as global stars from tennis and basketball.
  • It adds to Medic's profile outside the cage while he remains in the welterweight top 15.
  • Medic's striking-first style, built on volume and accuracy, made him an obvious choice to handle a crowd that was getting out of hand.
