Some are still fighting for titles, others are getting closer to retirement, but one thing is certain: we won't have this generation around forever.
A generation of UFC headliners is moving deep into its late thirties, and the list is a long one: Conor McGregor at 38, Alex Pereira at 39, Kamaru Usman at 39, Justin Gaethje at 37, Israel Adesanya at 37 and Alexander Volkanovski at 38. Between them they produced many of the sport's biggest rivalries, knockouts and nights. Some are still chasing titles, while others are edging toward the exit.

The recent results show how uneven that picture is. Gaethje, 28-5, is the lightweight champion and a unanimous-decision winner over Paddy Pimblett in a five-round title fight on January 24, 2026. His most recent recorded fight came on June 14, 2026, at UFC Freedom 250, where he beat Ilia Topuria by fourth-round KO/TKO in a title bout. The Highlight lands 6.48 significant strikes per minute at 58 percent accuracy, numbers that have shown no sign of fading.

Pereira, 13-4, sits third in the light heavyweight rankings. The Brazilian knocked out Magomed Ankalaev in the first round of their rematch at UFC 320 on October 4, 2025. His most recent recorded fight, also at UFC Freedom 250 on June 14, 2026, ended in a second-round KO/TKO loss to Ciryl Gane in a title fight. At six-foot-four with a 79-inch reach, he still lands 5.16 significant strikes per minute at 62 percent accuracy.
Usman, 21-5, is ranked ninth at welterweight. The former champion lost a unanimous decision to Dricus Du Plessis on July 18, 2026, a five-round fight. That followed a unanimous-decision win over Joaquin Buckley on June 14, 2025. His wrestling remains his calling card at 2.6 takedowns per 15 minutes.

Why it matters
- Two of the three fighters with recorded data below, Pereira and Usman, are 39. Gaethje, at 37, is two years younger than both.
- The stakes at the top are real: Gaethje holds the lightweight belt, and Pereira was fighting for a title in June.
- Recent form splits the group. Gaethje is on a three-fight winning run, while both Pereira and Usman come off losses.
The age figures make the point plainly. The oldest names on the list are 39, and none is younger than 37, so the sport's marquee stars are arriving at the same career stage together.
