Elijah Smith has revealed that his upcoming appearance at UFC Vegas 124 is the final bout on his current UFC contract, and that the promotion has not yet opened talks with him about a new deal.

Smith said in his latest interview that, as it stands, nobody at the UFC has spoken to him about re-signing. The 24-year-old is therefore heading into the fight without clarity on his future with the company.

A fast start to his UFC run

Smith, nicknamed "Swift," carries a 10-1-0 record into the contract-closing bout. His most recent recorded fight came on March 14, 2026, when he submitted SuYoung You in the second round at UFC Fight Night: Emmett vs. Vallejos. That followed a first-round KO/TKO of Toshiomi Kazama on August 9, 2025, and a unanimous decision over Vince Morales on February 15, 2025. Those three recorded results are all wins, and they show him finishing opponents in two different ways.

The orthodox fighter stands five-foot-nine (175 cm) with a 71-inch (180 cm) reach. His numbers point to a well-rounded, pressure-oriented style: he lands 4.18 significant strikes per minute at 48 percent accuracy, and averages 2.98 takedowns and 1.1 submission attempts per 15 minutes.

Why it matters

  • Smith is 24 and fighting for a new contract while riding a run of recorded wins, which gives him leverage in any negotiation.
  • His grappling output, nearly three takedowns per 15 minutes, paired with a recent submission finish, makes him a profile the promotion may want to keep.
  • A contract-ending fight adds stakes for both sides: a strong showing at UFC Vegas 124 could prompt re-signing talks, while the lack of conversation so far leaves his status open.

Smith has not indicated whether he expects negotiations to begin before or after the event. For now, the message from the fighter is simple: the fight is booked, the contract is running out, and the next step is up to the UFC.
