UFC Record Breakdown
Beneil Dariush is in a rough spot right now. The Kings MMA veteran has dropped three straight, including that brutal 16 second knockout against Benoit Saint Denis back in November. Before that, Charles Oliveira stopped him on the ground, and Arman Tsarukyan caught him early in what was supposed to be his big main event moment. That's three first round finishes in his last four fights. Tough times for a guy who was knocking on the door of a title shot not long ago.
First round is absolutely critical, Salkilld's last three finishes all came before the second round started.
Quillan Salkilld is riding the exact opposite wave. The Australian has been on fire, winning four straight in the UFC. He just submitted Jamie Mullarkey with a nasty neck crank in Sydney, knocked out Nasrat Haqparast with a head kick in Abu Dhabi, and showed he can grind too with that decision over Yanal Ashmouz where he landed 8 takedowns. Dude's finishing guys left and right, with three of those four wins coming in round one. Here's the thing though.
Dariush is still dangerous as hell when he gets going. That win over Renato Moicano showed he can still put it together, landing 77 strikes and going 5 for 5 on takedowns. His southpaw grappling is slick, and if he survives the early storm, he's got the skills to turn this into a dog fight. Salkilld's aggressive style plays right into the danger zone though. He comes forward hard and finishes fast, but he's never faced someone with Dariush's experience at the top of the division.
