Here's the thing about this bantamweight scrap - both Melissa "Scare" Croden and Luana Santos just beat the same opponent in Tainara Lisboa, but in completely different ways. Croden ground her out with volume striking back in October, landing 148 shots over three rounds before finishing it with punches from half guard. Santos? She got it done way quicker back in May, locking up a slick keylock from mount in the second round with perfect grappling - two takedowns on two attempts and nearly eight minutes of control time.

The styles here are gonna make for some wild scrambles. Santos is dangerous everywhere but especially on the mat, where she's got that Brazilian jiu-jitsu pedigree from 011 MMA Team. She choked out Mariya Agapova in under four minutes and showed she can grind when she outworked Stephanie Egger over three rounds. Croden's got that nasty striking volume though - she threw 230 strikes against Lisboa and isn't afraid to work from top position either.

What's interesting is Santos has been bouncing between flyweight and bantamweight. She dropped a decision to Casey O'Neill at 125 but looked way more comfortable at bantamweight against Lisboa. Croden's been at 135 and seems to be finding her groove with that pressure style. Both fighters are Orthodox, so it's gonna come down to who can impose their game first - Santos hunting for the takedown and submission, or Croden keeping it standing and turning it into a dog fight.
