Paulo Costa has issued an apology to Russian fans following controversial remarks he made at a press conference. The Brazilian middleweight explained that his negative comments about Russians were misunderstood and were specifically directed at Khamzat Chimaev, whom he referred to as "that Chechen gourmet." Costa clarified that he respects Russian people and knows several living in Germany. He acknowledged that Chimaev is more Chechen than Russian but noted they are from the same country. Costa also mentioned he has now defeated two Russian fighters and hopes to fight Chimaev as his third.
