Quick read

An analysis of the longest active win streaks in the UFC lightweight division shows significant changes over the past three years. Currently, the top streaks are led by Islam Makhachev with 14 wins, followed by Paddy Pimblett with 6, and three fighters tied at 5 wins (Chase Hooper, Nasrat Haqparast, Fares Ziam). One year ago, Makhachev also led with 14, followed by Pimblett at 6, and three fighters at 5 (Hooper, Haqparast, Ziam). Two years ago, Makhachev had 12, Renato Moicano and Pimblett had 5, and several fighters including Arman Tsarukyan had 4. In April 2022, Charles Oliveira led with 10, Makhachev had 9, and Beneil Dariush had 7.

A three-year snapshot of the UFC lightweight division's longest active win streaks reveals how dramatically the competitive landscape has shifted since early 2022, with one constant standing above the rest.

Charles Oliveira
Charles Oliveira

Islam Makhachev anchors every version of the data. In April 2022 he sat on nine consecutive wins, trailing only Charles Oliveira's ten-fight streak at the top of the division. By two years ago Makhachev had pushed that run to 12, and today it stands at 14, a figure that has held steady across the past two snapshots as the champion remains undefeated in the division.

Oliveira, now 36 and ranked third at lightweight with a 37-11-0 record, was the division's defining streak holder in April 2022 alongside Makhachev. The Brazilian carries a 74-inch reach and lands 3.35 significant strikes per minute at 54 percent accuracy, while also averaging 2.6 submission attempts per 15 minutes — among the most dangerous submission rates in the weight class. Beneil Dariush, 37 and currently ranked eighth at 23-8-1, held seven consecutive wins in that same 2022 snapshot. The southpaw averages 3.78 significant strikes per minute, and his name has since faded from the top of these streak comparisons.

Fares Ziam

Among the current challengers to Makhachev's dominance in the streak table, Fares Ziam sits tied at five wins. The 29-year-old Frenchman carries an 18-4-0 record, stands six-foot-one with a 75-inch reach, and lands at 51 percent striking accuracy.

Why it matters

  • Makhachev's 14-fight streak dwarfs every other active run in the division and underlines his sustained dominance at 155 pounds.
  • The complete turnover below the top spot — from Oliveira and Dariush in 2022 to Pimblett, Hooper, Haqparast, and Ziam today — reflects significant roster churn in a highly competitive division.
  • Arman Tsarukyan's four-fight streak two years ago has since dropped off the leaderboard entirely, a reminder of how quickly fortunes shift at lightweight.
