Max Holloway is working with welterweight contender Jack Della Maddalena as part of his preparation for his rematch against Conor McGregor at UFC 329.
Max Holloway has enlisted welterweight contender Jack Della Maddalena as a training partner in his preparation for a rematch against Conor McGregor, scheduled for UFC 329 on July 11.

Holloway, 34, enters the bout ranked fourth in the lightweight division and ninth on the pound-for-pound list, carrying a record of 27-9. The Hawaiian, who trains out of Gracie Technics, is one of the most prolific strikers in the sport, averaging 7.2 significant strikes landed per minute at 48 percent accuracy. Standing five-foot-eleven with a 69-inch reach, Holloway operates out of an orthodox stance and has built his reputation on relentless forward pressure and volume striking.
Della Maddalena, the 29-year-old Australian, brings a complementary set of tools to the camp. Ranked fourth in the welterweight division and 13th pound-for-pound with an 18-4 record, the Scrappy MMA product is a switch-hitter who lands 5.57 significant strikes per minute at an accuracy rate of 51 percent. His 73-inch reach — four inches longer than Holloway's — gives him an extended look that could replicate some of the angles Holloway will face against McGregor.

McGregor, 37, comes in at 22-6 and brings a 74-inch reach out of a southpaw stance, making Della Maddalena a logical sparring choice to simulate that left-handed threat. The Irishman averages 5.32 significant strikes per minute and has historically been one of the sport's most dangerous finishers in the early rounds.

Why it matters
- Holloway is preparing to face a southpaw in McGregor, and Della Maddalena's switch-hitting style offers varied looks in the gym
- Della Maddalena's 73-inch reach closely approximates McGregor's 74-inch reach, providing a realistic physical reference point
- Both men are ranked inside the top five of their respective divisions, raising the quality of the camp for Holloway ahead of a high-profile rematch
